Hence, I would only advise 22ct gold for heavy wedding rings and solid bangles.
Pure gold would be 999.9 per cent, which is far too soft for making jewellery. It would wear thin very quickly if worn every day, and it would bend and become misshapen very easily, which is why other metals are used to alloy with the gold to make it much more robust. For this reason, I would not recommend buying gold jewellery other than 9ct, 14ct, or 18ct, apart from a very thick wedding ring or a solid bangle in no more than 22ct.
