Marcasite was a very popular gem in Victorian times because of its beautiful metallic lustre, today it tends to be associated with antique jewellery, this type of vintage design is making a come back and is becoming very popular again. The name marcasite derives from the Arabic or Moorish word for pyrite.
Milgrain – which can also be spelled ‘millgrain’ – is a jewellery design technique you have probably seen before, but may have never noticed. Derived from the French word ‘mille-grain’, which translates to “a thousand grains”, milgrain detailing is a close-set row of silver beads that are typically used as a border.

The brooch is one of the most fun and versatile piece’s of jewellery that can be strategically placed anywhere on our outfits to give them more of a personal touch, they can be worn singularly in pairs or even in cluster’s, brooches like this Bow Brooch with Marcasite can look really cool when styled right and can make you stand out from the crowd.
