Small flocks of parakeets have even been reported as far north as Manchester. The best time of year to go looking for the birds is during the summer months, when they are easily identifiable by their loud and distinctive calls.

Art Nouveau is an international style of art, architecture, and applied art, especially the decorative arts, known in different languages by different names. In English it is also known as the Modern Style. The style was most popular between 1890 and 1910. It was a reaction against the academic art, eclecticism and historicism of 19th century architecture and decoration. It was often inspired by natural forms with sinuous curves of plants and flowers such as this Real Silver Swallow Brooch. Other characteristics of Art Nouveau were a sense of dynamism and movement, often given by asymmetry or whiplash lines, and the use of modern materials, particularly iron, glass, ceramics and later concrete, to create unusual forms and larger open spaces.

In my opinion everyone should have several brooch’s to go with different looks, or at least one for casual wear and one for a more formal dress.

The mallard is a dabbling duck that breeds throughout the temperate and subtropical Americas, Euro Siberia, and North Africa and has been introduced to New Zealand, Australia, Peru, Brazil, Uruguay, Argentina, Chile, Colombia, the Falkland Islands, and South Africa. This duck belongs to the subfamily Anatine of the waterfowl family Anatidae. The male birds have a glossy green head and are grey on their wings and belly, while the females have mainly brown-speckled plumage. Both sexes have an area of white-bordered black or iridescent blue feathers called a speculum on their wings; males especially tend to have blue speculum feathers. The mallard is 50–65 cm long, of which the body makes up around two-thirds the length. The wingspan is 81–98 cm and the bill is 4.4 to 6.1 cm long. It is often slightly heavier than most other dabbling ducks, weighing 0.72–1.58 kg. Mallards live in wetlands, eat water plants and small animals, and are social animals preferring to congregate in groups or flocks of varying sizes. This species is the main ancestor of most breeds of domesticated ducks.
