Measurements: 12mm x 12mm x 12mm.

Rose Gold Ball-Stud-Earrings 12mm ESA00496.

This pair of large ball stud earrings, are both simple and classic. Each features a plain polished 12mm 18ct rose gold Polished spherical ball stud, creating the perfect pair of earrings for everyday wear.

Rose Gold Ball-Stud-Earrings 12mm ESA00496.

Why Is rose gold a rose colour, in order to change its colour we have to mix it with other metals. The ultimate colour of the gold is determined by the metals combined with the gold to form an alloy, and the ratio of those metals. Common metals mixed with gold include copper, silver, nickel, palladium, and zinc.

Gold in its pure form is 24 carat and as we all know is a gold or a shiny yellow colour, pure twenty four carat gold is far to soft to make into jewellery, it is so soft that if worn on a regular basis would probably wear very thin in a short space of time, so in order to harden the gold the jeweller has to mix it with other metals to make it harder and strong enough to withstand every day wear and tear. Depending on the amount and the different other metals that it is alloyed with IE. mixed with not only determines the hardness and strength of the gold but can also determine the colour of the gold, different craftsmen will use various metals to alloy with the gold but whatever metals are used the percentage of gold should be the same for each carat.

Rose Gold Ball-Stud-Earrings 12mm ESA00496.

The colour of the gold alloy is determined by the other metals that it is alloyed with for instance white gold will have silver and various other white metals alloyed with it in order to make it white, where as rose gold will have copper alloyed with it to make it a red/ pink/ rose colour and yellow gold will most commonly have smaller percentage of silver copper and zinc to keep its yellow colour, 9 carat yellow gold is often a lighter yellow colour than 18 carat yellow gold, which is more of a rich and intense yellow due to its higher gold content.

Nine carat gold parts per thousand…….375.
Fourteen carat gold parts per thousand ..585.
Eighteen carat gold parts per thousand ..750.
Twenty two carat gold parts per thousand.916.

Rose gold was initially very popular in Russia in the 19th century and was known to some as Russian gold. Rose gold / pink gold / red gold / this colour gold is now experiencing a come back and is becoming the must have trend for jewellery of all kinds.

Depending on the amount and the different other metals that it is alloyed with IE. mixed with not only determines the hardness and strength of the gold but can also determine the colour of the gold different craftsmen will use various metals to alloy with the gold but whatever metals are used the percentage of gold should be the same for each carat.

9ct Yellow Gold Ring With two Gold balls ROO131. Also known as a Gold Bead Torque Ring.
The Shank is 4.5mm and the balls are 8.5mm.

I am sure this lovely ring will become a long term favourite and will add a touch of style to your look day and night that you will not want to take off.

This unusual 9ct yellow gold ring is a unisex ring that will look great on every one. It has a highly polished finish with a gorgeous tactile feel.
This ring is made in a finger size N we can adjust it to fit L,M,N O, P, very easily. Although it is strictly speaking an adjustable ring, it is so thick we do not recommend that you try to adjust it once we have made it to fit your required size, it should be left at that size, otherwise frequent bending will make it crack as with any metal bending it back and forth.

I am sure this lovely ring will become a long term favourite and will add a touch of style to your look day and night that you will not want to take off.
A must have addition to any jewellery lovers collection.

Stocked in finger size N. Other sizes can be made to special order in approximately one week for delivery or collection in-store.

9ct Yellow Gold Ring double ball adjustable open torque ring style, made By City of London Jewellers in our own workshop.

A torc (also known as a torque or torq) was a metal necklace dating back to the Iron age and worn by the Celts to show that a person was of a high rank in society.

There were two kinds of torc – they were either made from a single piece of metal like this 9ct Yellow Gold Ring or from many strands twisted together. Their popularity reached out widely across Europe in the European Iron Age from around the 8th century BC to the 3rd century AD. Torcs were found across many cultures, including that of the Illyrian, Thracian and Celtic peoples.

Moving in to the Iron age, for Celts, the torc was very important denoting rank. Some of the most famous Celtic works of art are torcs. The Celtic torque seemed to vanish during the time of migration but then came back again, more commonly in silver in the Viking Age.

We are not saying that this 9ct Yellow Gold Ring is a Celtic pattern but it is where the name torc seems to have derived from.

While most torcs were open at the front as this 9ct Yellow Gold Ring, they were designed to be worn permanently, some have been discovered with clasps and other mechanisms to close them. They were usually passed down through the generations. Some Celtic warriors even went to battle wearing no clothing apart from a decorative and identifying torc worn around their neck.

Ireland is a treasure trove of torcs and there have been many amazing finds over the years and these still continue to this day. The National Museum of Ireland now has a magnificent collection including two torcs from the ‘Broighter hoard’ which were discovered in 1896 on a farm in County Derry. These are included with other treasures such as the famous Tara Brooch and Ardagh Chalice.
