The city of London Jewellers presents the Reading Real Silver and Marcasite Dragonfly Brooch.
Measurements:- 61.4mm x 50mm.

Dragonfly Brooch Silver & Marcasite BRS00048.

Brooches were very popular in the Victorian era and were traditionally worn on the left side which was considered correct and sophisticated by people in high society. They are an accessory a lot of us tend to write off as outdated, but now days people are far more creative. Brooches are fast becoming a new trend again with people wanting to make they’re own style statement, are wearing them not only on coat and jacket lapels, scarfs, jeans but even on the sides of handbags etc.

The brooch is one of the most fun and versatile piece’s of jewellery that can be strategically placed anywhere on our outfits to give them more of a personal touch, they can be worn singularly in pairs or even in cluster’s, brooches like this dragonfly brooch can look really cool when styled right and can make you stand out from the crowd. Try wearing this Dragonfly Brooch at different angles to see what suits you best.

In my opinion everyone should have several brooches to go with different looks, or at least one for casual wear and one for a more formal dress.

Insect Jewellery Such as this Dragonfly Brooch were very popular with the Victorians.
Why did Victorians wear insect jewellery? Partly inspired by the Ancient Egyptians and in partly by a renewed love of nature and the countryside in light of rapid urbanisation, natural motifs like insects were seen as genteel, nurturing and virtuous.

Dragonflies are insects in the sub-order Anisoptera (meaning “unequal-winged”). In Great Britain and Ireland there are about 30 species that may be encountered.
The term ‘dragonflies’ is sometimes used for the whole scientific order Odonata that also includes the sub-order Zygoptera (damselflies).

What to look for in a brooch?
Brooches can be simple or flamboyant like this gorgeous Silver Dragonfly Brooch, weather they focus on gold or silver or be covered with gemstones or enamel. When selecting a brooch or pin, consider if you want a fun look, classic style, or one that goes best with a favourite outfit. Brooches and pins come in a huge variety of colours and styles so you can celebrate the seasons.

Whatever the occasion, you’ll find the perfect accessory for your outfit in our range of women’s brooches. With beautiful real silver butterfly and assorted silver animal designs to real gold, striking lapel pins and more.

“This brooch features a hallmark.”
